“Trama da terra: seda e linho” (weaving the earth: silk and linen) is an exhibition that resulted from an artistic residency with artists Cindy Steiler and Mónica Santos, part of Experimentar o Têxtil (To experiment with textiles) programme promoted by Contextile/Ideias Emergentes, in partnership with the Municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto and DGARTES which focuses on working and interacting with the community in a collaborative process around the world of textiles, sharing stories and knowledge, which are translated into exhibitions, artistic residencies, workshops and experimentation workshops.

This exhibition intertwined photography, video and textile art with the heritage of silk and linen production in Cabeceiras de Basto, in northern Portugal.

Through visual and tactile narratives, it reveals the rhythms of rural work and the knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Echoes of tradition emerge in every thread and gesture, revealing the deep connection between matter, landscape and community.
